BISHOP
A bishop is an ordained priest who has attained the fullness of the priesthood and who possesses the power to administer all of the sacraments, including ordination. A bishop has the authority to administer a diocese and is under the direct responsibility of the Pope, the Vicar of Christ, the Bishop of Rome.
Bishop Daniel Robert Jenky, CSC was appointed as the eighth bishop of Peoria on February 12, 2002. Bishop Jenky is responsible for the souls of the people who live in the geographical area known as the Peoria Diocese. The Peoria diocese stretches from the Quad-Cities, IL to Princeton, IL to Danville, IL to Lincoln, IL, to Macomb, IL, to Dallas City, IL and all the land in between; 26 counties in all!
The Congregation of Holy Cross or Congregatio a Sancta Cruce (C.S.C.) is a Catholic congregation of priests and brothers founded in 1837 by Blessed Father Basil Anthony-Marie Moreau, CSC, in Le Mans, France. The “CSC” written after his name means that he is a member of religious order known as the Congregation of the Sacred Cross and commonly referred to as the Holy Cross Fathers.
